A. Election. At the first regular meeting in December of each calendar year, the Town Council shall elect one of its members as Vice-Mayor by a majority vote.

B. Term. The Vice-Mayor shall serve at the pleasure of the Council for a term of one (1) years or until a successor is elected.

C. Duties. The Vice-Mayor shall be appointed to perform the duties of the Mayor during his absence, pursuant to ARS 9-236. The Vice-Mayor’s compensation in this instance shall be increased to match that of the compensation of the Mayor. In the event of a vacancy in the office of Mayor, the Vice-Mayor shall succeed to the office of Mayor until the end of the term to which the Vice-Mayor was elected or the end of the term to which the Mayor was elected, whichever comes first, and then a new Vice-Mayor shall be elected.
